What we’ve learned along the way is different sized companies have different needs. I know, I know, it seems far away. But Black Friday/Cyber Monday really is just around the corner! (November 25th and 28th to be exact.) And with some stores making 40% of their yearly revenue in this last quarter alone, we don’t want you missing out.
Winnipeg-based tech company, Bold Commerce, has been named to Startup 50's ranking of Canada’s Top New Growth Companies by Canadian Business and PROFIT.

We had a lot of great things happen around here last week like awards, recognition, and an awesome Christmas party. All the excitement really gave us some time to reflect on what it means to be part of the Bold team. One of the biggest parts of working here is that we are a team, in every sense of the word. This year myself (Jason Myers) and Yvan Boisjoli, will be sleeping on the streets of downtown Winnipeg to raise money and awareness of homelessness in Winnipeg. As of right now, you can change the recurring date for a customer's subscription. This means if a customer is subscribed to a monthly plan on the 1st of every month - but would like their order to recur on the 5th of every month instead - you can now make this change for them.
One of the features which we believe separates Recurring Orders apart from other subscription apps on the Shopify App Store is our 'Manage Subscriptions' page.
This page (which you can see below) allows your subscription customers to manage their own subscriptions without having to contact you for help.

Last month, our Commerce team came up with two awesome new custom projects to make your store do some cool things! They’ve created a way to allow Customer Pricing tags control what the price of options on your products. They also created a brand new affiliate tracking app for Taser to pay out commissions on affiliate sales.
In the middle of a typically cold, harsh Winnipeg January, three members of the Bold team were invited down to San Antonio for a little sunshine and a very warm welcome. Jay and Eric - 2 of Bold's founders, and Frank - our senior systems administrator were asked to speak at the annual Rackspace conference attended by all of its 6,000 employees. They delivered a presentation that highlighted the importance of customer support and availability - 2 concepts that are fundamental to the success of both our companies.
Over the years, working as a Shopify Partner, we’ve found that it’s a great community of Designers, Developers, and Store Owners who work together with the common goal of creating the best possible online shopping experience.
2014 is coming to a close and as much as we like looking back at all the great things that happened this year, we’re always planning for what’s to come.

We just added a pretty cool little feature to our Product Options app! If you have the premium version of the app, your customers can now edit their options right inside the cart. Before, they would've had to remove the item, go back to the product page and start all over.

Throughout much of its evolution, online retail or eCommerce has been used almost exclusively by consumers to purchase products from around the world and have them shipped right to their doorstep -- People buying things from other places.
Bold Commerce is a relatively new enterprise - a branch of Bold Innovation Group - that has quickly established itself as the go-to company in Winnipeg and Manitoba for online retail services - eCommerce. The evolution of our company has really been sort of a top-down endeavour. The chicken before the egg so to speak, the horse before the cart. What we did is not uncommon in the software industry. We built a great product - in our case, some amazing eCommerce applications - and then decided to build a company around it, once they became popular.
The art of the upsell is as old as commerce itself. From the days of the merchant selling you the cart to go with horse to the pack of gum next to the checkout stand to the ubiquitous "Would you like fries with that?"; these are all forms of “upselling”.

Well, the same guys and gals who brought you such Shopify App Store hits as ‘Product Upsell’, ‘Product Options’, and ‘Customer Pricing’ are now expanding our eCommerce expertise with the newly reformed Bold Commerce department.
Last week we had the pleasure of hanging out at Shopify’s headquarters in Ottawa, spending time with a number of the staff that work there. The four of us were not 100% sure what to expect on the flight down. We of course heard many great things, watched multiple clips on the news about the company and dealt with a lot of the staff. However, just like when spending a week living at someone’s house, you see all the dirty private details of the way they live. The same is with a business.
