Take a virtual tour of Bold Commerce's new Austin office
Once upon a time (in 2016), Bold Commerce relocated from the quaint community of Ile des Chênes, MB, to the big city. But we were growing so rapidly that even one Winnipeg office wasn't enough. So we opened a second office in U of M's Smartpark Innovation Hub. Now we're expanding again, this time beyond our Canadian borders.
Still headquartered in Winnipeg, we've opened our first US office in Austin, TX. Let's jump in and take a virtual tour.
The office is located on the main floor of a WeWork building on the corner of 6th and Congress — right in the heart of bustling downtown Austin. There's a Starbucks next door, and we're just down the street from local favourites like Voodoo Doughnut and SoulCycle (not recommended at the same time!).
Bold's Austin office boasts tons of natural light and many comfy nooks and sitting spots to relax, have a quick brainstorm, or test your skills at the air-hockey table. You guessed it, it's Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars.
Open concept workspaces, ergonomically friendly desks, and a kitchenette loaded with delicious caffeinated beverages, fruit-infused water, and other fun snacks and beverages (sorry Starbucks!) make Bold's Austin office a comfortable, easy-going work environment where people can feel right at home.
Our first Austin episode of Off the Script on LinkedIn Live was a big hit. If you missed the live broadcast you can watch it here. Bold CHRO Chantal Grindle sat down for a fireside chat with our new CRO, Mike Sanchez, who joined us in November and will be leading the Austin office.
Sanchez brings 15 years of experience in enterprise software sales and has held leadership roles with WP Engine, BigCommerce, and Rackspace. As Vice President of Partner and Agency Sales at WP Engine, Sanchez recently oversaw the development of sales and partnerships on the WordPress digital experience platform. We're thrilled to have him leading our new sales office in Austin. Welcome to the team, Mike!
The expansion to Austin supports Bold's accelerated growth and will better position us to serve our rapidly growing roster of U.S. merchants and partners. For CEO, Yvan Boisjoli, Austin was a natural fit for Bold, both economically and culturally.
“The Austin tech market has grown by 25% over the past five years and is now also home to many tech giants, including Google, Facebook, Oracle, and Apple. It is the ideal location for a fast-growing company like ours," said Boisjoli. "We are ready to embrace all that Austin has to offer as we fuel our growth and continue to attract great talent.”
Bold was quick to make friends with other tech companies in the neighborhood. In February we hosted Shipper HQ’s monthly commerce party meetup at the new space. The event brought together members of the local ecommerce community and featured a speaker from Bold merchant, Braxley Bands — Insanely comfortable Apple Watch bands. And yes, in true Canadian fashion, there was a caesar bar.

2020 and beyond
Our expansion to Austin caps off a year that began by raising $22 million in funding. We were also recognized on Deloitte's 2019 Technology Fast 50™, as well as Canadian Business' Growth 500 as one of the fastest growing Canadian companies.
Our innovative products and flexible, API-based commerce solutions have attracted over 90,000 customers and almost 2,000 agency and technology partners. Bold is the largest app developer on Shopify and is continuing to advance its leadership in headless commerce through ongoing innovations across multiple ecommerce platforms. And guess what, we're still growing!
